BIOGRAPHY
"As a lifelong artist, Fabricia Gonçalves is always looking for the next opportunity to translate their everyday experiences into artistic expressions".
My name is Fabricia Goncalves and I am a 30-year-old, queer tattoo artist. I am originally from Brazil, where I lived most of my life and got to learn and grow in the art of tattooing while attending college for Control Engineering and Web Design in 2017. I did my apprenticeship with one of my godfather’s friend, who was a tattoo artist at the time. I started tattooing at my house in Brazil, but it was only when I moved to the U.S. that I really had the opportunity to learn more and specialize my art while working in a tattoo shop.
Upon arriving in the United States in 2019, I had the opportunity to work in two of the biggest shops in Miami; the Empire Ink from 2019-2020 and the Alex Chiong Tattoo Studio from 2020-2023.
It was at the Alex Chiong Tattoo Studio where I got the chance to work with incredible artist such as Alex Chiong, Chris Angel, and Alejandro Tejeda… Artists that helped me evolve and grow in the industry and opened the doors to where I am now. They were definitely more than just coworkers; they were mentors and family to me, and I will always be grateful for that crew and all that they did for me.
Today, I am currently working for the American Tattoo Society (ATS), where I am getting the opportunity to work inside of army bases and tattoo the people who serve/served this country. I am getting to experience a different environment in this industry and I am beyond happy of where my career has taken me.
At the moment, I can say that I specialize in Realism, Lettering, Geometric and Color Free-style Tattoos. My biggest inspirations in the industry are Raphael Lopes and Fernando “Tampa”, among several others.
When talking about the art of tattooing, I firmly believe that we will never stop learning and looking for ways to evolve. I’ve seen how much change has happened in the industry within the last couple of years and it’s obvious that if you want to be like the artists you admire, you always need to be studying, learning and practicing.
I’m so blessed to say that in the recent years, I’ve gotten the chance to participate in several tattoo conventions and have received 2nd place in “Best Dot Work” at the Ink The Bay Tattoo Convention, 3rd place in “Best Lettering” at The Villain Arts Tattoo Convention, 2nd place in “Lettering” at the Orlando Tattoo Show, and 3rd place in “Lettering” at The All Stars Tattoo Convention hosted by Dynamic Ink. I know that this is just the begging of my career!
